Transition To Telehealth
For a number of reasons, including most recently the outbreak of COVID-19, the use of telehealth or telemedicine has expanded tremendously. This provides added convenience and greater access to treatment for many patients.
In my practice, I use a secure and HIPAA compliant platform called Updox for telehealth appointments. If we decide to meet via video, I will send you a text or email at the time of the appointment that will allow you to connect to my Updox account simply by clicking on the link you receive. All you need is your phone or computer. There is no need for you to download any additional apps or programs.
In March of 2020, the federal government announced the allowance of physicians to practice telehealth across state lines. Prior to this announcement, the treating doctor had to be licensed in the state that the patient was located, even for telehealth appointments.
It is not clear if or when this allowance may be rescinded. If it is rescinded, I will continue to offer telehealth appointments for all my patients who reside in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
For now, I am able and willing to evaluate and treat you through telehealth regardless of where in the United States and its territories you reside.
